Should governments strictly regulate social media algorithms to prevent misinformation?

Social media algorithms greatly influence the information users receive through personalized recommendations, but they can also amplify misinformation and extreme views. Some countries have begun legislating limits on algorithmic recommendations, while others argue this infringes on free speech.

Honestly, these platforms only care about engagement. Their algorithms are literally designed to feed people rage-bait and fake news just for clicks, so we definitely need some regulation.

giving the government control over algorithms is a terrible idea. who gets to decide what's "misinformation"? it just opens the door for them to censor stuff they don't like.
